The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) approved a tariff benefit providing for exemption from import customs duties on certain types of beef imported into the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in 2026, the EEC press service reported.
The measure allows duty-free imports within the following quotas:
- Kyrgyzstan — up to 5,000 tons
- Russia — up to 100,000 tons
- Armenia — up to 7,500 tons
- Belarus — up to 7,500 tons
- Kazakhstan — up to 5,000 tons
«This customs and tariff regulation measure represents a balanced solution. Its targeted nature, requiring confirmation of designated use, will support the meat processing industry. At the same time, it will not negatively affect the domestic beef market or create additional risks for investment projects in the cattle breeding sector,» EEC Minister in charge of Trade Andrey Slepnev said.
He emphasized that the application of tariff benefits in previous periods helped ensure the availability of meat products for the population and curb consumer price growth.
The shortage of beef in the Union’s member states is traditionally offset primarily by supplies from Latin American countries and India.
The decision will enter into force in 10 calendar days after its official publication and will apply to legal relations arising from January 1, 2026.
