The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has amended the project for the construction of the alternative tunnel on Bishkek—Osh highway. According to the updated resolution, two small hydropower plants (HPPs) — Karakol Zapad and Sokuluk Yuzhnaya — will be built alongside the tunnel project.
The addition aims to ensure the tunnel’s self-sufficiency in energy supply. Construction of the hydropower plants will be carried out by the state institution Green Energy Fund.
