Men detained in Batken with Afghan hashish for 2 million soms

Two men, who tried to sell Afghan hashish, have been detained in Batken, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

On January 6, officers of the State Service on Drug Control received information that hashish of Afghan origin was smuggled in large quantities to Batken region and then sold. A case was opened under the article «Illegal production of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their analogues for the purpose of sale» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

A 27-year-old local resident was detained; drugs were found in his jacket. On the same day, a 40-year-old foreigner was detained while handing over money, who was also involved in the smuggling and sale of drugs. An examination showed that the seized substance was Afghan hashish worth 2 million soms.

Both detainees were placed in a temporary detention facility; the investigation continues. Law enforcement officers are identifying other people involved in the crime.
