Illegal registration of mobile phones has been stopped. The press center of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic (SCNS) reported.
«As part of the introduction of the State Identification System (SIS), cases of gross violation of the established rules for the import and registration of mobile devices were detected. According to the identification procedure, the bulk of devices must be registered by importers during import for the purpose of sale or other entrepreneurial activity in the country. The work of the SIS is aimed at registration of only original, safe and declared with customs and tax authorities devices, increasing transparency and accountability in the system of customs duties and taxation, eliminating cases of illegal circulation of stolen mobile devices,» the statement says.
The SCNS noted that, despite the innovations, cases of registration of mobile phones bypassing customs procedures have become more frequent. Some individuals have organized a scheme of chaotic registration of mobile devices in violation of the requirements and conditions of the SIS. Registration of mobile phones began on Kyrgyz citizens and foreigners without their knowledge.
On September 16, a special operation was conducted in the capital’s TsUm (Central Department Store) and about 10 people were detained, some were released after interrogation. Four people, the main organizers of the scheme, were placed in the temporary detention facility of the SCNS. Activities are being carried out to identify other persons involved.
