Kyrgyzstan ranked 84th among 133 countries in the Global Knowledge Index 2023, compiled by the United Nations Development Programme in collaboration with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, scoring 44.1 points.
The index takes into account seven indicators, including education, information and communication technologies and the economy.
As noted, Kyrgyzstan is a modest performer in terms of its knowledge infrastructure. It ranks 5th out of the 25 countries with medium human development.
Kazakhstan showed the best results among Central Asian countries — 74th place and 45.6 points. Uzbekistan is in 78th place (44.8 points), and Tajikistan has the lowest result — 111th place and 36.1 points. Turkmenistan is not represented in the ranking.
Switzerland topped the ranking with 69.1 points. The top five also includes Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands and the United States. The Democratic Republic of Congo, Niger and Chad take the last places in the index.
