The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will allocate $56 million for the construction of treatment facilities in Cholpon-Ata. The corresponding agreement between ADB and the Cabinet of Ministers was approved by the Committee on Agrarian Policy, Water Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan.
Of these funds, ADB will provide $31 million in the form of a loan at 1.5 percent per annum for 23 years with an eight-year grace period. The remaining $25 million will be provided as a grant.
This money will be used to build sewage treatment facilities in Cholpon-Ata, which will treat 14,200 cubic meters of wastewater per day, 150 kilometers of sewage systems in Bosteri and Kara-Oi villages, 11 kilometers of bicycle path, a history museum and three recreation parks.
In addition, the background statement to the bill states that the project will also improve the infrastructure of tourism facilities and the petroglyph museum in Cholpon-Ata.
