By decision of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, the head of the Goreyev Botanical Garden laboratory, Candidate of Biological Sciences, and Senior Researcher Igor Soldatov was awarded the Nikolai Vavilov Medal. The Botanical Garden staff reported on social media.
The award is given for outstanding contributions to the development of biological science, genetics, selection, and plant growing.
According to the Botanical Garden website, Igor Soldatov’s area of scientific activity is conducting research on plum varieties, developing principles for selecting initial varieties for intervarietal and interspecific hybridization of plum, and creation of new varieties for various purposes.
