Armenia freezes its participation in CSTO at all levels

«Armenia has frozen its participation in the CSTO at all levels, and at this stage such a decision is sufficient,» Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said at a press conference, answering journalists’ questions.

As Armenpress reported, the head of government emphasized that «he himself respects all points of view, but the government made this decision.»

Armenia has frozen its participation in the CSTO at all levels. We consider this decision sufficient at this stage. There may be discussions, one may say that this is enough, another may say that this is not enough. But we still need to see who has what powers to make judgments.

He added that Yerevan does not see the need to make an additional decision, but this does not mean that the state leadership will change its mind.

Recall, Nikol Pashinyan has previously repeatedly made harsh critical statements against the CSTO. His main complaint is that the organization has failed to fulfill its obligations to Yerevan, having taken a wait-and-see attitude during the war in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Prime Minister announced in February that Armenia was suspending its membership in the CSTO, and in May, Yerevan announced that it would stop paying contributions to the organization’s budget.
