Prime Minister of Japan intends to voice proposals on Central Asia development

Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida will begin his tour of Central Asian states on August 9-12. The first C5+1 summit of the heads of states of the region will be held in Astana with his participation, where a package of economic assistance to the region will be announced. The Japan Times reports.

Some media specify that the head of the government of Japan will make proposals for the development of Central Asia, particularly in the field of decarbonization.

Japan intends to promote the development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route connecting Central Asia with Europe via the Caspian Sea.

«At a meeting with the leaders of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan the Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida plans to announce an economic aid package for Central Asia, which will aim to create a new trade route to Europe,» the media outlet notes.

It is planned that the route will be an alternative to the Russian one and will pass through the Caspian Sea, linking Central Asia and Europe.

Experts believe that official Tokyo seeks to counterbalance the growing influence of China in Central Asia, as well as to find new opportunities for the development of the national economy.
