Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan have increased trade turnover by 36 percent compared to last year. Turkmenistan news portal reports, citing the data from the report of the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic.
It is noted that Turkmenistan has significantly increased trade and economic cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.
According to statistics, the foreign trade turnover of Kyrgyzstan with Turkmenistan for the period from January to April 2024 amounted to $20 million, which is 36 percent more than in the same period last year.
The statement also says that the Kyrgyz Republic expects the launch of a new transport route through Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan with access to the Caspian Sea — to Russia and other countries.
Earlier, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan expects opening in the near future of a new transport route of cargo delivery to Russia and in the opposite direction through the Caspian Sea.
«Joint work is underway to develop an international multimodal route for cargo delivery from Kyrgyzstan to Russia via Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan using sea ferry service on the Caspian Sea. I hope that in the near future we will launch this new route, which will contribute to the growth of trade turnover between our countries,» he said.
