Channel for smuggling of drugs to Central Asian countries was suppressed in Russia. The website of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation reported.
«Employees of the Federal Customs Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, as well as law enforcement agencies of Uzbekistan, as a result of an international operation using the «controlled delivery» method, detected and stopped a stable channel for the supply of synthetic drugs from the Russian Federation to the states of Central Asia.
More than 6 kilograms of drugs were seized, including alpha-PVP, mephedrone and MDMA. The cost of the batch on the black market exceeds 15 million rubles,» the statement says.
According to the Russian Customs Service, the organizer of the scheme, a citizen of Armenia, was detained in Moscow, and active participants in a criminal group involved in smuggling and drug trafficking were detained on the territory of Uzbekistan.
A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against the organizer. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 229.1 (drug smuggling committed by an organized group) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment from 15 to 20 years with a fine of up to 1 million rubles or life imprisonment.
