Arstan Alai found dead in prison colony No. 31

Arstanbek Abdyldaev (Arstan Alai) was found dead in the cell of prison colony No. 31 of the State Penitentiary Service on January 5. A lawyer Kaisyn Abakirov reported.

According to him, these are the consequences of the fact when, for a less serious crime, the investigator asks for detention in the pre-trial detention center No. 1, although the case is being investigated by the State Committee for National Security. And the investigating judge of the Oktyabrsky Court takes Arstan Alai into custody in violation of the norms of the Criminal Procedure Code.

«This happened despite my repeated written appeals to the management of the pre-trial detention center to ensure security of my client. We do not know why, on whose instructions and when he was transferred to colony No. 31. In a word, the illegal actions of law enforcement agencies, investigations, courts, and the Penitentiary Service led to the death of the person. We ask the Prosecutor General’s Office to bring all guilty officials to criminal responsibility,» Kaisyn Abakirov wrote.

Earlier, the press center of the State Committee for National Security reported that Arstan Alai was detained on suspicion of committing a crime — inciting religious hatred.

The basis for his detention was information that Arstanbek Abdyldaev posted calls for inciting religious and interreligious hostility, and propaganda of identity of citizens on the grounds of religious commitment on social media, books and brochures. «He considers himself a «new god», a «savior», and considers other religions, beliefs and views to be inferior, weak and invalid delusions, and gives them a negative assessment,» the statement notes.
