Customs duties will reach record levels in 2023 - Sadyr Japarov

By the end of the year, the Customs Service will reach record levels, collecting up to 111 billion soms in payments. The President Sadyr Japarov said at a gala event dedicated to the Day of Customs Service Workers.

The head of state focused on the fact that based on the results of 11 months of 2023, the amount of customs duties reached 100,755.3 billion soms. The plan was fulfilled by 108.2 percent. By the end of the year, it is expected to increase the amount of customs payments to 111 billion soms, which will be a record for all years. This is 10 billion soms more than planned.

«The management of the Customs Service was tasked with collecting 107.6 billion soms, and you all successfully completed this task,» the president said.

He noted that as a result of the fight against smuggling in 2023, the budget received 657.6 million soms as damage from violations and crimes in the field of customs legislation in 5,547 cases.

According to the head of state, the expected result will be achieved only by improving the infrastructure of checkpoints, increasing throughput and transparency of business processes.

«If today more than 300 trucks pass through Torugart checkpoint, then through modernization it is necessary to increase the throughput to 1,000 vehicles per day. Similar actions should be taken at other checkpoints,» he said.

Sadyr Japarov stressed that the transparency of customs administration and processes has improved significantly with the introduction of electronic systems.

The President added that the formation of anti-corruption behavior and the principles of strict adherence to the law among civil servants should become a priority in their work.
