Public transport in Bishkek carries 700,000 passengers daily

Public transport of the capital transports 700,000 passengers daily. Vice Mayor of Bishkek Maksatbek Sazykulov said at the round table «Sustainable Development of Bishkek: Main Trends of Transport Development».

According to him, if back in August there were 130 buses in the capital, then today additional transport was purchased with the help of the head of state. Its total number today is about 800. About 400,000 passengers a day are transported by municipal transport companies.

Maksatbek Sazykulov added that the City Hall has recently analyzed the main junctions.

Out of 100 vehicles at the intersection, about 1.5 percent are minibuses and up to 1 percent are large public transport.

«The priorities of the municipality will be focused on citizens who use public transport. And for motorists we will make steps that will tangibly reduce the number of traffic jams on the roads,» the vice mayor said.
