As of October 1, 2023, at least 13,030 HIV-infected people were officially registered in Kyrgyzstan. It was announced at a press conference dedicated to World AIDS Day.
About 12,272 among the infected are citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
«During the entire period of observation of the epidemic in Kyrgyzstan, 3,233 people with HIV infection died. To date, 80 percent of people living with HIV in the republic are aware of their status,» the Republican Center for Control of Bloodborne Viral Hepatitis and HIV reported.
According to it, about 2,000 people living with HIV are not aware of their status.
As the director of the center, Umutkan Zhusupova, said, various events will be held in December, during which free HIV testing will be carried out.
