At least 52 percent of the population of Kyrgyzstan dies from cardiovascular diseases, half of them from stroke. Nurgul Ibraeva, head of the Department for Organizing Medical Care and Medicines Policy of the Ministry of Health, announced at a press conference.
According to her, many activities are carried out to prevent stroke. The Ministry of Health has developed a roadmap to improve the quality of care for patients with acute cerebrovascular disorders.
«In order to diagnose these disorders early, various tests were developed, thanks to which you can recognize the symptoms of a stroke,» she noted.
She added that stroke can happen in any family, so it is important that everyone can recognize it.
How to recognize a stroke:
- Ask the patient to smile. If she or he has a stroke, this will not work; the smile will be crooked. One corner of the mouth remains downturned. Instead of a smile, at best you will get a crooked grin.
- Ask the person to say any simple phrase. An alarming sign if he or she cannot say the usual words or their speech has become slurred.
- Ask to raise both hands in front of them. During a stroke, one of the hands will rise poorly or even «float» to the side.
