Blogger Ulan Bekmuratov, who extorted $40,000, was placed in a psychiatric hospital. The Supreme Court informed 24.kg news agency.
On August 11, Alamedin District Court of Chui region released Ulan Bekmuratov from criminal responsibility and dismissed the case on the basis of Article 25 «Insanity» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. At the same time, he was assigned compulsory treatment in a psychiatric hospital in Chym-Korgon village.
The court left the victim’s claim for compensation for material damage unsatisfied and sent the claim to the civil court.
The blogger was detained in Alamedin district for extortion of money. Citizen filed a statement to the police, who asked to take measures against Ulan Bekmuratov. The latter had allegedly threatened him since April 2023 with publishing a compromising video in the media. For not publishing the video, the blogger extorted $40,000 and received $37,300. The suspect did not stop there and continued to demand money.
