New rules of stay of foreigners do not worsen legal status of Russians

The new rules of stay of foreigners in Kyrgyzstan, including citizens of the Russian Federation, do not worsen their legal status. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

«The introduced new rules of stay do not worsen the legal status of Russian citizens on the territory of Kyrgyzstan and are introduced by the Kyrgyz side in order to streamline the order of stay of foreign citizens on the territory of Kyrgyzstan,» the statement says.

According to the Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan, the new conditions for the stay of foreigners, including Russians, will begin to be applied from October 21 based on 90/180 principle in respect of persons who are in the republic «without drawing up appropriate documents granting the right to further stay.»

«Similar legal regulation of the periods of temporary stay of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation is provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation and has been applied since January 1, 2014,» the Foreign Ministry recalled.

It is noted that the initial registration of Russian citizens arriving on a private visit «is carried out for 180 days, while in the Russian Federation only for 90 days.»

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic informed about the restriction of the visa-free regime for foreigners.
