The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan approved an agreement with Russia on the creation of a unified regional air defense system.
According to the document, Kyrgyzstan will temporarily transfer to the Russian Federation, free of charge, a 5-hectare land plot near the air base in Kant for the deployment of Russian troops.
The agreement was concluded for five years.
Earlier, the State Duma ratified an agreement between Russia and Kyrgyzstan on the creation of a unified regional air defense system.
It was signed in Moscow on August 16, 2022. According to the document, the parties, in order to improve air defense in the region, are creating a unified regional air defense system of the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic, which is an integral part of the unified air defense system of the CIS member countries.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Armed Forces will coordinate the joint actions of the troops of the unified regional air defense system of the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic and troops that are part of other regional air defense systems of the CIS member states.
