The European Union transferred €7 million (665 million soms) to Kyrgyzstan on a grant basis for the education sector. The Ministry of Finance reported.
The tranche is the first of €27 million allocated by the European Union to implement the education development strategy in Kyrgyzstan during 2023-2026. The program provides assistance in taking measures to improve the quality of education and student assessment systems, promote gender equality and multilingual education, and improve public financial management.
The Ministry of Finance plans to use the tranche funds to further improve the quality of education, purchase textbooks and provide access to the Internet in all schools.
«An education system accessible to all is a key priority for cooperation between the government of Kyrgyzstan and the European Union. This assistance reflects the EU’s commitment to supporting the country’s development,» the European Union Ambassador Marilyn Josefson said.
