Ban on fundraising in schools: State to cover shortage of funds

Candidacy of Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva for the post of Minister of Education and Science is considered at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on social policy.

Deputy Aibek Matkerimov asked how the candidate for the post of head of the Ministry of Education would fight collection of money in schools.

«Fundraising continues. Large families, single parents, and socially vulnerable families suffer from this. We meet with teachers, they tell about the lack of chalk and cloth. Funds for repairs are needed. There are schools that collect 2,500 soms per year. How will you resolve this issue? How much money will be needed to cover the needs of school facilities?» he asked.

Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva responded that the funds needed for schools are included in protected budget items.

«Resolution No. 508 of the Cabinet of Ministers was issued on September 28. It provides for the complete liquidation of funds at schools. The money that was collected by the funds will now be allocated by the state. This issue has been resolved,» she said.

On May 26, a ban on collection of money and public funds in them was imposed in schools of Kyrgyzstan.
