The Ministry of Transport of Kyrgyzstan plans to extend Bishkek — Balykchy railway route to Karakol and launch a high-speed train there. Deputy Minister of Transport, Yrysbek Bariev, announced at a meeting of the Parliament.
According to him, people will be able to travel from Bishkek to Karakol in one and a half or two hours.
«The project will require about $4.5 billion. We are currently negotiating with South Korea. Negotiations are also underway on the issue of electrification of the railway along Lugovaya — Balykchy route,» Yrysbek Bariev said.
