Russia plans to participate in construction of Kambarata HPP 1

«If we talk about hydro construction, we hope to participate in Kambarata HPP 1 project,» Energy Minister of Russia Nikolai Shulginov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, there are proposals, and Russian companies should be more active: to offer services in cooperation with someone, someone designs, someone builds.

Earlier, the Eurasian Development Bank also announced the possibility of investing in the construction of this hydroelectric power plant.

«We now want to take an active part in structuring of Kambarata HPP1 construction project. The topic of erecting the station has been broadly stated. Now it is important to properly formalize it so that it can be financed. It is important that all stakeholders participate in its creation. Then it will be possible to achieve a payback model. The project is large and solves many problems of the water and energy complex of the entire region,» Nikolai Podguzov, head of the bank, said.

In early January, the Energy Ministers of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan signed a roadmap on joint implementation of Kambarata HPP 1 construction project.

The capacity of the future HPP will be 1,860 megawatts. The HPP reservoir will have a volume of 5.4 billion cubic meters. The plant will produce an average of 5.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. The project is scheduled to be implemented by the end of 2025.
