Japarov: Relations between Kyrgyzstan and Russia acquired interesting character

«It is gratifying that Kyrgyz-Russian contacts and interaction are developing dynamically and have acquired an interesting character,» President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov said at the ceremony of the start of construction of Russian-language schools in the republic.

According to him, Kyrgyzstan and Russia are united by strong long-standing ties of friendship, mutual understanding and support. The countries are strategic partners and allies. And cooperation in the field of education clearly reflects the high level of relations between the states.

«Education is one of the most valuable resources we possess. It not only develops our youth, but also shapes the future of the nation. Today we can say with satisfaction that cooperation with the Russian Federation in the field of education is becoming stronger and more effective. Kyrgyzstan and Russia cooperate closely in education and science. Student exchange programs are widely practiced. The growing interest of young people of the Kyrgyz Republic in getting education in the Russian Federation and studying the Russian language has been especially noticeable in recent years. Significant experience has been accumulated in the organization of joint work of ministries and universities of the two countries,» Sadyr Japarov said.

He cited the fact that the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after Boris Yeltsin has been operating since 1993. On May 29, 2023, a center of the Moscow State University named after Mikhail Lomonosov was opened on the basis of the Osh State University. Work is actively underway to create a branch of Moscow State University in Karakol, which will start working in the near future. Gazprom Kyrgyzstan general education school, which has become one of the exemplary educational institutions in the Kyrgyz Republic, has been operating since 2019. The humanitarian Russian project «Teacher Abroad» has been implemented in the republic since 2019, under which qualified teachers from the Russian Federation work in schools of the country.

Sadyr Japarov expressed gratitude to the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian government for their readiness to support Kyrgyzstan’s initiatives in the field of education.

«I am sure that creation of joint Kyrgyz-Russian schools is only the beginning of our great creative work for the sake of a wonderful future of our citizens. I hope these schools will become a place where our younger generation will be inspired to study sciences, develop their talents and form leadership qualities. There is no doubt that young men and women will become active participants in society, capable of making their worthy contribution to the development of the republic. I am confident that joint Kyrgyz-Russian schools will become a source of pride for our peoples and an example of successful cooperation between our states,» he concluded.
