Asphalting of Osh — Batken — Razzakov (Nookat) road has been completed. The Minister of Transport and Communications Tilek Tekebayev posted on Facebook.
According to him, by September 1, the road will be marked and road signs will be installed.
«Nookat road was promised to be restored since 2016. But the work started only in March 2023. Money was allocated from the state treasury on the instruction of the country’s leadership. The work on two sections was carried out by Kyrgyzavtozhol,» Tilek Tekebayev wrote.
He noted that 75 kilometers of the Osh — Batken — Razzakov road are located in Osh region. Of these, 6 kilometers — in Osh, 5 kilometers — in Kara-Suu district, the rest — in Nookat district.
On July 20, at a Cabinet meeting on the results of the first half of the year, the head of the SCNS Kamchybek Tashiev said: Minister of Transport and Communications Tilek Tekebayev will write a letter of resignation if the repair of the road in Nookat is not completed by September 1.
According to the Cabinet, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) allocated $133.58 million for the construction of Osh — Batken — Razzakov road. At least $50 million of the sum were allocated for the construction of the road from 28th to 75th kilometer (Osh — Nookat — Batken section). Deputy Aibek Osmonov was outraged that the Ministry of Transport had not held a tender for the construction of the road for five years, although $110 million had already been allocated by donors.
Then the deputy head of the Ministry of Transport, Yrysbek Bariev, replied that it was decided to build 13 kilometers of the road in Nookat at the expense of the state budget.
