The 11th meeting of the Intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Belarusian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Minsk. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev and Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Anatoly Sivak chaired the meeting.
The parties discussed prospects for the development of Kyrgyzstan — Belarus trade and economic cooperation. The agenda of the meeting included issues of partnership in industry, transportation, agriculture and agro-industrial complex, development of interregional cooperation and others.
Bakyt Torobaev noted that mutual visits and summit meetings, as well as agreements reached and documents signed play a key role in the development of comprehensive cooperation. Kyrgyzstan and Belarus cooperate constructively on international platforms, and mutual support is provided on key issues of interaction.
The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers handed over a personal message from President Sadyr Japarov to the leader of Belarus with an invitation to participate in the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State to be held in Bishkek on October 13.
During the meeting, the parties agreed to create working groups on industry, as well as on transport and logistics for the implementation of joint infrastructure and cooperation projects, strengthening mutually beneficial economic cooperation in these areas.
As for the field of education, it was proposed to consider the issue of increasing the number of places for students from Kyrgyzstan at budget-funded departments in the leading universities of Belarus.
In order to intensify direct contacts, the parties expressed mutual interest in working out the issue of resumption of direct regular air service between the two countries on Bishkek — Minsk route.
As for cooperation in the field of industry and subsoil use, Bakyt Torobaev pointed out the great potential of the raw material base in the Kyrgyz Republic, which allows opening enterprises with a high level of localization of manufactured products through joint development of deposits. The Kyrgyz side expressed readiness to work with Belarusian colleagues to exchange technologies and experience, organize joint productions in such areas as petrochemicals, metallurgy, silicon and textile clusters, production of mineral fertilizers and others.
In addition, the parties agreed to cooperate in the training of professional and technical personnel for the railroad industry.
The Belarusian side expressed interest in organizing a sustainable supply of vegetables and fruits from Kyrgyzstan.
The Kyrgyz Republic also proposed to hold a forum of regions, which would strengthen interregional interaction between the regions of the two states. The parties noted with satisfaction the practical establishment of bilateral cooperation between Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan and Grodno Oblast of Belarus.
Following the results of the meeting, the following documents were signed:
- Minutes of the meeting, including a wide range of bilateral activities for the near and medium term;
- Roadmap of cooperation between Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan and Grodno Oblast of Belarus;
- Memorandum of Cooperation between National Company Kyrgyz Temir Zholu and the Belarusian Railroad;
- Memorandum of Cooperation between National Company Kyrgyz Temir Zholu and the Design and Survey Republican Unitary Enterprise Belzheldorproekt Institute.
