Gasoline prices are predicted to rise twice as high as inflation in Russia

The Federal State Statistics Service of Russia (Rosstat) has recorded an increase in gasoline prices by 6.6 percent since the beginning of the year. The rise in gasoline prices at gas stations will soon be twice as high as inflation, the Russian media report.

It is noted that Rosstat records an increase in gasoline prices since the beginning of the year by 6.6 percent, while inflation over this period reached 3.6 percent. According to the service, diesel fuel prices have risen sharply last week.

«Statistics on prices for oil products do not fit into the restrictive limits of officials. The Ministry of Energy and the Federal Antimonopoly Service keep saying that retail fuel prices should rise within the limits of inflation. Gasoline prices at gas stations in the country have been growing at a high pace for the third month in a row. A sharp rise in prices for diesel fuel has been added to them: last week, its cost increased by 1.3 percent. Since the beginning of the year, diesel has risen in price by 2.7 percent,» the statement says.

On average, the price of one liter of AI 92 gasoline at Russian gas stations is 50.23 rubles, AI 95 gasoline — 54.85 rubles, diesel fuel — 60.03 rubles.

«Retail prices reflect the situation in the wholesale sector: exchange prices for petroleum products have been at record levels for a month. The regulators are not able to change the situation in this sector,» the media of the Russian Federation say.

Recall, gasoline prices increased in Kyrgyzstan at the beginning of the week. The price of AI 95 went up most of all. The Association of Oil Traders associates this with an increase in wholesale prices at Russian refineries.
