Two children died of measles in Kyrgyzstan for six months. The press center of the Ministry of Health informed 24.kg news agency.
In total, 1,704 cases of measles have been registered since the beginning of the year, most of them in Osh city and Osh region — 277 and 609 cases, respectively, and Bishkek — 361 cases.
Two deaths were registered: in Bishkek (three years old) and Chui region (12 months).
«In both cases, the children were not vaccinated according to the preventive vaccination calendar, the parents refused it due to religious beliefs,» the ministry said.
The children are vaccinated against measles at 12 months and 6 years old.
Measles is dangerous due to complications, inflammation of the lungs, brain, eyes, leading to blindness. In severe cases, death is possible.
