Bishkek to host Oimo 2023 International Festival

The XVII International Festival of Traditional Culture and Crafts Oimo 2023 will begin its work in Bishkek on July 27. Press service of the City Hall reported.

The festival is held annually in the last week of July, first in Bishkek, and then on the shores of Issyk-Kul lake. Since 2006, it has been attended by artisans, designers, artists, entrepreneurs from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, India, China, Russia, Iran, the USA and Mexico.

The festival will take place:

  • On July 27 — 30 — on the square in front of the monument to Kurmanjan Datka in Bishkek;
  • On August 1 — 3 — near the building of the village administration in Tamchi village;
  • On August 4 — 6 — on the site in front of the hippodrome in Cholpon-Ata.

Guests of the festival will be able to see a craft fair, exhibitions, ethno-fashion shows, take part in master classes, eco-promotions, conferences, taste traditional cuisine and participate in other events.

Oimo Festival is held by the Resource Center in Kyrgyzstan of the Central Asian Association for the Support of Crafts CACSARC-kg. In 2019, Oimo was recognized as the best event tourism project in Kyrgyzstan at the Kyrgyz Tourism Awards.
