Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov took part in a meeting of the Council under the Speaker of the Parliament on Sustainable Development in the context of climate change. Press service of the Cabinet reported.
Akylbek Japarov noted that the future would depend on the measures taken to combat climate change. From the high podium of the UN, Kyrgyzstan has indicated its commitment to solving problems related to the climate agenda. The republic has begun to fully comply with the obligations of the Paris Agreement under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change on the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere.
The head of the Cabinet also called on the public to contribute «to the rational and economical use of the planet’s resources.»
«Using energy-saving light bulbs, public transport, sorting waste, saving water are steps that every person can take, we just need to change our habits,» Akylbek Japarov stressed.
He also mentioned the country’s initiative to swap external debt for green and climate projects and called on international organizations to take an active part in the implementation of this initiative.
