The staff of the Ombudsman’s Institute nominated Askat Azarbekov for the position of Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan. He is the head of the institute’s office. The organization informed 24.kg news agency.
They sent a letter to the speaker of the Parliament, all factions, deputy groups and parliament deputies with a request to support the candidacy of Askat Azarbekov. The letter was signed by 57 employees of the Institute.
According to the employees, the chief of staff made a great contribution to the work of the institute.
«Azarbekov was able to show a high level of management. He earned the respect and trust of the team. If he is elected as an Ombudsman, he will be able to improve and strengthen the influence of the institute at the international level,» the letter says.
According to the law, candidates for the post of Ombudsman are proposed by factions, deputy groups or parliament deputies.
Ata Zhurt Kyrgyzstan parliamentary faction nominated the former Deputy Prosecutor General Dzhamilya Dzhamanbaeva as a candidate.
Earlier, Alliance, Yntymak factions and Eldik deputy group nominated ex-deputy Mirlan Dzheenchoroev to the post of Ombudsman. The documents were submitted to the relevant committee. However, the former deputy refused to run. It also became known that Ishenim faction intends to support its candidate, lawyer Kanymbu Karabayeva.
