President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov visited secondary school No. 77 in Bishkek and took part in a lesson for 9th grade students on the history of the development of religions. Press service of the head of state reported.
This subject has been introduced into the curriculum since September last year at the initiative of the president.
«During the lesson, Sadyr Japarov watched the course of the educational process, the methodology of teaching the new subject, the level of knowledge of students on this topic, and also talked with students. He noted that the subject should give the younger generation and youth objective scientific knowledge about religions, their history, culture and role in the life of mankind and the spiritual and moral sphere,» the press service said.
In addition, the head of state told the students that knowledge about the values of traditional religions is in demand today, since various movements actively disseminate their information through various channels to recruit new followers into their ranks, passing it off for religious values.
Sadyr Japarov stressed that in order to prevent involvement in various radical religious movements, it is important to convey the correct information about religion to the younger generation, and the school subject will help not only form a correct idea about it, but also contribute to education in religious matters in the families of the youth and their close circle.
