Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, held talks with the Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov as part of his working visit to Uzbekistan.
The parties exchanged views on a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, investment, water energy, transport and communication, cultural, humanitarian and other fields. The Heads of Government of the two countries discussed implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Kyrgyz Republic on January 26-27, 2023.
Akylbek Japarov noted the work of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek intergovernmental commission and the Council of heads of border regions, as well as the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund, which plays a significant role in the development of bilateral partnership.
The parties expressed their readiness to bring the volume of mutual trade to $2 billion this year.
Abdulla Aripov confirmed the desire to strengthen and expand the Kyrgyz-Uzbek strategic cooperation and, in general, develop mutually beneficial partnerships in all areas of mutual interest. «We have every opportunity to reach the $2 billion mark in mutual trade and stand for the speedy implementation of major joint projects, in particular the construction of Kambarata Hydroelectric Power Plant-1 and China —Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway,» he said.
