Czech company to build waste processing plant in Bishkek

A Czech company will build a waste processing plant. Mayor of Bishkek Emilbek Abdykadyrov announced at a press conference.

According to him, meeting of representatives of the company, the mayor and head of the Cabinet Akylbek Japarov took place on Wednesday.

«We have been working on this issue for about a year. There were two companies, we chose the Czech one in the end. It has extensive experience in building waste processing plants,» he said.

The mayor added that the construction cost is $45 million. They will be invested by the Czech company. Payback period is 15 years. «We will not spend money. We will provide the regulatory framework — adoption of a law on waste. The waste will be like raw materials, like property,» he added.

Emilbek Abdykadyrov said that it was planned to implement an investment or a public-private partnership project in the capital to create a single operator for sanitary cleaning, collection, removal and further deep processing and disposal of solid household waste in Bishkek.

«The company wants to install modern containers, install sensors in them that will show filling of the bins,» he said.

According to the mayor, signing of the road map and start of work are expected in the coming days.
