Foreign Affairs Minister of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev took part in the next Ministerial Meeting in the C5+1 format with the participation of the heads of Foreign Affairs Ministers of Central Asian countries and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
The parties reportedly discussed issues of joint cooperation in the field of economic, energy, humanitarian and educational cooperation and interaction in the field of border security and terrorism.
Jeenbek Kulubaev noted that in the current turbulent international conditions, the issues of ensuring food and energy security, macroeconomic stability and social stability require from Central Asia priority attention, to consolidate efforts and coordinate activities. Along with intensification of cooperation in the field of transport, power industry and the food industry, promising areas of cooperation were announced, including the areas of creative industry, ecology and green energy.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic called on his colleagues to start developing regional and national projects together with an emphasis on the infrastructure and investment component.
As for the issues of minimizing the consequences of sanctions and preventing the application of possible secondary sanctions, the parties noted the importance of continuing consultations and dialogue, taking into account the interests of the countries.
As part of the discussion of issues of regional stability and security, border security and cooperation in the fight against terrorism, Jeenbek Kulubaev noted that the Kyrgyz Republic was making every possible effort in this direction, citing as an example the resolution of issues of delimitation and demarcation of the state border exclusively through negotiations based on generally recognized norms and principles.
The Kyrgyz side emphasized that one of the main components of stability for the entire region was border security, the fight against terrorism, smuggling and trade facilitation. Interest was expressed in obtaining advanced experience and introducing international technologies in the process of combating these threats.
Touching upon the situation in Afghanistan, the official stressed that Kyrgyzstan supports the efforts of the international community aimed at supporting the Afghan people in preventing a humanitarian catastrophe, as well as in long-term assistance in the reconstruction process and building a decent life for the Afghan people.
Following the meeting, the heads of the Foreign Ministries of the Central Asian countries and the United States confirmed their commitment to further cooperation within the C5 + 1 format.
The C5 + 1 format is a multilateral mechanism for interaction between the five countries of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) and the United States. It was created in 2015 to discuss regional issues in the fields of economy, ecology, security, humanitarian and educational cooperation.
