EU authorities will check the data on the growth of exports to countries neighboring Russia due to suspicions that they are circumventing restrictions. The Special Envoy for the Implementation of EU Sanctions David O’Sullivan said in an interview with the Financial Times.
He noted that trade flows from Europe to Russia have declined markedly, while exports to third countries, especially those located near the Russian Federation, have increased significantly.
«Have they suddenly developed a need for a large amount of such materials and does it all stay there or does some of it flow to Russia in some form?» David O’Sullivan asked.
The EU Special Envoy did not name specific countries, but journalists noted that Kyrgyzstan and Armenia significantly increased exports from the European Union. Turkey also reportedly began to buy more goods from the EU.
