«The quality of all construction work will be completely under the control of the state, we will not allow chaotic construction,» President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov said in an interview, commenting on the consequences of earthquakes in Turkey.
He criticized the quality of high-rise buildings built over the past 10 years.
«If we talk about the quality of houses, then we can only hope for God. Only he knows how houses have been built over the past 10 years. If they collapse, then the lives of the residents of these houses will be on the conscience of the construction companies, the architects of the Gosstroy (the State Agency for Architecture, Construction, Housing and Communal Services),» Sadyr Japarov said.
According to him, supervision over the construction sector has been strengthened since 2020.
«We carried out a reform in Gosstroy. There will be a «single window». The Bishkek City Hall will control architecture; they are instructed to restore order in construction sector. At least 74 multi-storey buildings were erected illegally in Bishkek, the land has not been transformed. They rented land for five years and built houses. People are living there now. There are houses built beyond the red line. People ask to legalize them. «Okay, let’s legalize, but the quality is on your conscience,» we say. We wanted to demolish them, but people live there. What is the fault of the people? They bought. The ex-mayor and employees of Gosstroy were corrupt. We are removing their dirt now. Perhaps we will give permission to complete the construction of houses, if they are not beyond the red line,» the head of state said.
