GPS trackers to be installed in minibuses in Bishkek

GPS trackers will be installed in minibuses in Bishkek. Press service of the City Hall of the capital reported.

According to it, the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development held a meeting with the heads of public transport companies. They discussed the issues of increasing the number of scheduled trips, installing GPS trackers in minibuses, as well as issues of compliance with culture and ethics among drivers.

The companies were recommended to consider the issue of soonest increase of the fleet and constant monitoring of the technical condition of existing minibuses.

Representatives of companies selling GPS trackers presented a program for satellite monitoring of vehicles based on their own software platforms. Using the platform, it is possible to track public transport in real time, inform passengers about the location and movement of public passenger transport. Currently, citizens can track the movement of trolleybuses and buses in My City application.

Director of the department Maksat Nusuvaliev told 24.kg news agency that all minibuses would be equipped with GPS trackers. «This is done in order to streamline the work of the dispatch service, as well as establish control over the scheduled trips. There are many complaints from citizens that there are few minibuses on the routes in the evening and in the morning. In the future, we plan to enable the display of the movement of minibuses in My City and 2GIS applications, we are currently working on this issue with the company,» he said.
