Summit of EAEU PMs: Main issue - strengthening of integration

The main topic of the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in narrow format, which took place in Almaty (Kazakhstan) on Thursday, was the strengthening of integration cooperation in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The Telegram channel of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.

«Together we are able to withstand the most difficult challenges,» the Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

He thanked the Kazakh side for the hospitality and good organization of the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov for the effective work during the chairmanship of the Council in 2022, and also conveyed the best wishes to the heads of delegations from the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

It was noted that the EAEU is developing steadily, demonstrating its effectiveness and relevance:

  • The absolute volume of mutual trade between states during its existence has increased by more than one and a half times;
  • Foreign trade grew almost by half;
  • The share of non-commodity goods with high added value is steadily increasing in the domestic trade turnover.

«Despite the external pressure and the difficult international situation, the Union operates in a coordinated and efficient manner on the basis of mutual support and readiness to solve emerging problems in a timely manner. This approach allows us to maintain stability and, of course, continue to work for the benefit of the citizens of our states,» Mikhail Mishustin said.
