Mandatory Kyrgyz language test is not yet included in the Nationwide Testing, but this is indicated in the program for the development of the state language. The head of the sector of the Ministry of Education and Science Gulnara Ibraimova told 24.kg news agency.
According to her, almost 70 percent of applicants pass the Nationwide Testing in Kyrgyz. Since 2022, subject tests in the Kyrgyz language and literature have been developed for those entering the Kyrgyz Philology Departments.
«Let’s say a child knows chemistry and biology well, passed the main test with excellent marks, can enter a medical school and become an excellent surgeon, but will not go to a university because he or she does not speak Kyrgyz. They shouldn’t suffer because of it. So we will lose a good surgeon in the future,» said Gulnara Ibraimova.
She added that graduates who wish can voluntarily pass the Kyrgyztest, the certificate gives an advantage when entering a university with the Nationwide Testing results. So far, this has not become a widespread practice.
It should be noted that the legislation provides for entrance and final examinations in the state language in organizations of primary, secondary and higher vocational education.
