MFA of Kyrgyzstan asks Kazakhstan to simplify rules of stay for Kyrgyzstanis

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Almaz Imangaziev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to the Kyrgyz Republic Rapil Zhoshybaev. Press service of the ministry reported.

The meeting was held at the initiative of the Kyrgyz side to discuss the issue of the legal status of the Kyrgyzstanis in Kazakhstan in connection with the introduction of new rules for the entry and stay of foreign citizens in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Almaz Imangaziev expressed concern about the possible negative consequences of the introduction of new migration rules for the entry and stay of immigrants in Kazakhstan for the population of the two fraternal peoples.

In particular, special attention is paid to the stay of certain categories of citizens of Kyrgyzstan: drivers (cargo carriers, taxi drivers), workers in the construction industry, catering, those who regularly cross the Kyrgyz-Kazakh state border, including people traveling in transit through the territory of Kazakhstan.

«At the same time, respecting the national legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it was proposed to consider the possibility of simplifying the stay of citizens of Kyrgyzstan on the territory of Kazakhstan, taking into account the strategic, allied interstate relations between our fraternal peoples, as well as the membership of the two countries in the EAEU,» the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic noted.

The Ambassador Rapil Zhoshybaev noted that the measures taken were initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in order to ensure control over the entry of immigrants into the country, as well as to combat illegal migration.

The rules for the entry and stay of foreigners in the republic have changed in Kazakhstan. According to the new procedure, which will come into force on January 27, citizens of the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), including Russians, can stay in Kazakhstan for not more than 90 days within a 180-day period.
