For 12 months of last year, the State Service on Drug Control detected 463 drug-related crimes in Kyrgyzstan. 6,598 tons of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors were seized from illegal circulation. At least 11 drug laboratories were liquidated. Press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
Of the total seized:
- Opium — 8,813 grams;
- Heroin — 76,930 grams;
- Hashish — 169,600 grams;
- Marijuana — 281,486 grams;
- Cannabis plant — 7,242 grams;
- Precursors — 5,793 tons;
- Psychotropic substances — 230,815 grams;
- Other drugs — 30,060 grams.
«More than 200 events in the field of drug prevention have been carried out, the coverage of the population amounted to about 300,000 people. The leadership of the service has set a number of tasks to prevent the smuggling of drugs of Afghan origin, wild-growing hemp, as well as to step up work to identify and eliminate drug laboratories that make components for the manufacture of narcotic drugs,» the statement says.
Particular attention is paid to the work on suppressing drug crimes on the Internet, as well as to intensify work in the field of drug prevention.
