Great steps have been taken in Kyrgyzstan to ensure development of the Russian language throughout the country. President Sadyr Japarov stated this in an interview with Kabar agency.
According to him, in 2023, nine schools with the Russian language of instruction will be built in the republic at the expense of the Russian Federation.
Sadyr Japarov also commented on the requirements for state bodies to keep documentation in the Kyrgyz language.
«After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the number of Russian language teachers decreased significantly, especially in the regions. It became noticeable that personnel made mistakes when keeping documentation in Russian. Therefore, I proposed to keep the documents in the Kyrgyz language, so that it would be more literate, and attach the Russian version. In some cases, the main document comes in Kyrgyz, and the appendix is in Russian. To avoid confusion, the main document should be in the Kyrgyz language, and the Russian version should be attached to it. We still translate documents from Kyrgyz into Russian. Everyone knows that the Russian language is enshrined in our Constitution as an official language,» he said.
The head of state stressed that the authorities were making efforts to provide migrants with work in their homeland.
It has to be noted that most of our migrants are in Russia. Therefore, they must be fluent in Russian.

«Last year, during my working visit to the Russian Federation, I asked Vladimir Putin to help with the construction of nine schools with Russian as the language of instruction here. God willing, they will be built in all regions of the country next year. If we have good Russian-language schools, quality education, then in 5-10 years the Russian language will develop again. In general, it is impossible to conduct business in the CIS states, within the EAEU, without speaking the Russian language. In addition, it is widely used within the UN,» he said.
The President added that the authorities were trying to ensure quality teaching of English in schools. However, in this part, according to him, there may be a problem with funding.
«More than 3,000 schools need qualified English teachers. They need to be paid an appropriate salary. This issue is being considered. Generally speaking, there is no need to find fault with my words, to look for politics in them. On the contrary, it will be great if our students know not only Russian, but also other languages. The more languages they know, the more knowledge they will receive, they will be able to travel and study freely,» Sadyr Japarov added.
