Human rights activist Dinara Oshurakhunova called on NGOs and the media to unite in order to together counter threats and challenges to freedom of speech, free expression of opinion and peaceful assembly today at the round table «Interaction between the media and the civil sector of Kyrgyzstan».
According to her, too many negative events have happened in the Kyrgyz Republic over these two years.
«There are too many challenges that we do not have time to respond to. We are even starting to get used to it. Therefore, a broad coalition with the participation of the media and NGOs is needed in order to interact,» the human rights activist noted.
She added that many challenges have been received for the media, journalists, and human rights activists over the past two months.
Dinara Oshurahunova was supported by Tamara Valieva, chairwoman of the Media Action Platform in Kyrgyzstan, who added that unprecedented pressure on freedom of speech was observed in the country and called on both NGO representatives and the media to sign a memorandum of cooperation.
