A march against gender-based violence will be held in Bishkek on December 3. Civic activists reported.
Participants of the march will walk from Russia cinema to the park of Fighters of the Revolution. The time of the event is from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.
Activists demand to introduce criminal liability for domestic violence, complicity in ala kachuu (bride kidnapping) and concealment of information about these crimes.
«Domestic tyrants bear only administrative responsibility now; there is no punishment for the relatives of the kidnappers of girls, who often help them. In our opinion, this is unacceptable,» the statement says.
The organizers of the march demand to introduce indefinite protection orders for victims of domestic violence and open free crisis centers in each district at the expense of the state.
«The activities of the police and courts should be under public control. This will increase their effectiveness, including when investigating cases of domestic violence or ala kachuu,» they noted.
The activists demand equal wages for men and women, at least 300 soms per hour (48,000 per month). Economic independence of women increases protection from domestic violence, they are sure.
