Moscow hosted the 51st meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the CIS member states. The Public Relations Center of the FSB of Russia reports.
It is noted that the heads of delegations met with the Russian President Vladimir Putin on the same day.
«During the meeting, additional measures were developed to jointly counter the destructive activities of foreign non-governmental non-profit and international organizations that use «soft power» tools to destabilize the social and political situation in the Commonwealth space,» the statement says.
The press service of the Kremlin presented an excerpt from Vladimir Putin’s opening speech at the meeting. The President of Russia noted that the conflict potential in the world as a whole, as well as at the regional level, remains very high. New risks and challenges for collective security are emerging.
«The tactics of blackmailing, pressure, intimidation have long been used by some countries in almost the entire space of the Commonwealth. Thus, attempts to implement the scenarios of «color revolutions» do not stop, the map of nationalism and extremism is actively used, armed conflicts are ignited that directly threaten the security of all CIS members,» Vladimir Putin said.
He also noted that one of the priority tasks was to jointly counter attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of the CIS countries.
«We know what it is. In order to counter this, it is necessary to more actively uncover and stop the work of foreign intelligence services aimed at destabilizing the situation in each individual CIS member state,» the Russian President said.
Council members approved a joint assessment and forecast of the development of security threats to countries in the information sphere.
To improve the mechanisms for the practical implementation of the agreements reached, meetings of the working bodies on scientific and technical cooperation, on combating illicit international trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, on information security, on cooperation in the field of preliminary investigation and on cooperation in the field of counteracting the destructive activities of foreign non-profit non-governmental and international organizations were held.
The head of the CIS Anti-Terrorist Center reported on the results of the joint anti-terrorist exercise of the competent authorities of the CIS member states (2022, Russia) and submitted the center’s work plan for the next year for consideration by the Council members.
Based on the results of the work, the final document of the meeting and decisions of the Council on various areas of cooperation between security agencies and special services of the CIS countries were signed.
