Consumers of renewable energy sources (RES) are mining farms. The Deputy Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, Sabyrbek Sultanbekov, told at a briefing.
He noted that existing small hydropower plants and other renewable energy sources will not be able to take advantage of the benefits and preferences specified in the law on renewable energy sources since they are introduced to stimulate their construction.
«The subjects that have been working for a long time have already paid for themselves. They work because of economic interests. I will not hide, and it is not a secret, that their consumers are mining farms. It is much more profitable for them to sell electricity. In addition, we do not have spare power capacities. We are now importing electricity, and would be happy to buy it from renewable energy entities, if they wish to sell it to us,» Sabyrbek Sultanbekov said.
