Bishkek hosts meeting of first Interstate Council of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan

Meeting of the first Interstate Council of Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan took place on Tuesday at Ala-Archa state residence.

The meeting of the two heads of state Sadyr Japarov and Ilham Aliyev was held in a narrow format.

Sadyr Japarov stressed that bilateral cooperation between the countries has reached the level of strategic partnership.

He expressed confidence that the visit of his Azerbaijani counterpart and the first meeting of the Interstate Council would give a new impetus to bilateral relations.

«This will be a clear indicator of the active development of cooperation between the two countries in the political, trade and investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres,» Sadyr Japarov said.

The head of Kyrgyzstan stressed that a number of agreements reached in April during his visit to Azerbaijan have been implemented — a Business Council has been created, a school named after Heydar Aliyev and a park of Friendship of Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan will be opened.

The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev noted that such dynamics of relations indicates that the two countries are determined to increase the potential for mutual cooperation.

During the visit to Azerbaijan, a declaration on strategic partnership was signed, which brought bilateral relations to a new level.

Ilham Aliyev believes that after his visit to Kyrgyzstan there will also be agreements that will help deepen cooperation in many areas.

He noted that the Azerbaijani side is ready for joint work to increase bilateral trade. Azerbaijan is also interested in the implementation of investment projects in the Kyrgyz Republic.
