The head of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS), Kamchybek Tashiev, told about the draft agreement on the border line with Uzbekistan, how much land was transferred to the neighboring country and what Kyrgyzstan received at a meeting of the profile committee of the Parliament on Monday.
According to him, after two years of negotiations, the parties came to an understanding and concluded an agreement.
In total, more than 19,000 hectares of land remain the property of Kyrgyzstan, while Uzbekistan retains the water area of Kempir-Abad reservoir — 4,485 hectares, but two countries will jointly manage it.
«Kempir-Abad will be jointly managed by two countries. 4,485 hectares of land were transferred to Uzbekistan. At least 1,200 hectares have been freed due to the lowering of the water level, they were transferred to us,» he said.
In addition, Kyrgyzstan receives the areas of Gavasai — 12,949 hectares, Kok-Serek — 105 hectares, Bayastan — 212 hectares, Ungar-Too — 35 hectares, Ak-Tash — 100 hectares, Kara-Belek — 25 hectares and other areas in Osh and Jalal-Abad regions (in Suzak and Uzgen districts, presumably, 1,000 hectares each).
The beginning of Sharikhan canal was divided into 19.5 hectares for each side.
The SCNS head noted that the territory of Kyrgyzstan has been expanded by 15,806 hectares.
