Azimbek Beknazarov creates public commission on Kumtor

Ex-Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Malaysia Azimbek Beknazarov announced creation of a public commission on Kumtor. His assistant Aibek Myrza announced.

According to him, Beknazarov sent a letter of notification to the President, Speaker and Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The appeal says that different opinions have been expressed about the development of the mine for 30 years, that this topic remains relevant today.

«The president said on September 8: «If necessary, create a public commission.» We officially announce that those who are concerned about the situation in the field of subsoil, especially at Kumtor, nicknamed the «father of corruption in Kyrgyzstan», the fate of the gold and other metals mined there, the deplorable environmental situation and corruption schemes, have voluntarily united into a commission,» the letter says.

It is noted that ex-vice speaker Kubanychbek Isabekov, public and political figure Ramazan Dyryldaev, economist Gani Abdirasulov, lawyer Daniyar Erkinbaev, journalist Aidanbek Akmatov and former governor of Talas region Aibek Buzurmankulov were included in the public commission. Azimbek Beknazarov heads the commission.
